MY PROFILE AND RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am a current EdD in Art Education candidate at Columbia University Teachers College and a visual art teacher at Avenues: The World School. I have also taught at DC International School between 2017 to 2021. My students' ages range from PreK 3 to 10th grade.

My primary research topic is integrating Asian culture into art curriculum and multiculturalism in art class. I am also working on a research project to integrate art into academic subjects. In summers 2019 and 2020, I collaborated with the U.S. Department of State Teacher Institute and the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art, which provided me with resources such as professional lectures, forums, databases of previous research, and museum collections. Thus, I completed the following interdisciplinary research, from which I have three lesson plans (scheduled to be published in Jan 2021) that integrate museum collections into social studies, history, and music class curriculums: Chinese Decorative Art Influence Through International Trade and Cultural Exchange; Self-cultivation and Enlightenment: Cultural Activities of the Ancient Chinese Literati; Bronze Bell: Music in the Bronze Age. I am also writing the chapter Inheritance and Integration: Qing Dynasty (1644-1912 A.D.) Imperial Garments for a forthcoming book Teaching Chinese Arts and Culture: Content, Context, and Pedagogy. Finally, interweaving technology, art, and education is an essential aspect of my ongoing research on developing interactive, inclusive, and engaging pedagogies.
